Prof. Luigi Natale graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1985 with a specialization in Radiology in 1989 at the
Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. He completed his training as a Fellow at the Cardiac Magnetic Resonance
Unit at the Royal Brompton in London in 1991 and at the Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Unit at the University of
Alabama at Birmingham, in 2001.
Experiences, Assignments and Collaborations
Prof. Luigi Natale is the Director of the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Radiology Unit of the Fondazione
Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS. Previous positions held included the head of the
Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Unit and Emergency Radiology. Prof. Natale is a member of numerous
international scientific societies, among which the following are particularly notable: RSNA, ARRS, ESR,
ESMRMB, AHA, SCMR, SCCT, NASCI, ESCR, ESTI.
Among the most prestigious international recognitions is the role of President of the European Society of
Cardiovascular Radiology (ESCR). He was President of the Working Group of Cardiac Radiology of the SIRM
and member of the Educational Exhibit Cardiac Subcommittee of Radiological Society of North America
(RSNA).
He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging.
He is a member of the Advisory Editorial boards of the journals European Radiology, European Radiology
Experimental and Insights into imaging.
Research Activities
The scientific production of Prof. Luigi Natale is characterized by 123 Publications, 1920 citations and an H
Index of 22. He is also the author of 4 books and 12 book chapters. He actively participates as a speaker in more
than 250 national and international conferences with particular reference to cardiac imaging.
