Radiology

The center is equipped with some of the most advanced medical technologies available, including an ultra-fast CT scanner, one of the most efficient imaging systems globally. This device can perform high-precision diagnostic scans in just 30 seconds, significantly accelerating the diagnostic process and enabling physicians to develop accurate and effective treatment plans based on real-time, highly reliable data. Siemens Somatom Force, one of the most advanced computed tomography scanners in the world. This technology provides high-resolution imaging while significantly reducing radiation exposure, making it ideal for patients requiring frequent scans, children, and the elderly. These groundbreaking advancements position the center as a global leader in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and obesity with unparalleled efficiency.

Percutaneous Biopsy

Percutaneous Biopsy is one of the routine procedures in Interventional Radiology (IR) done percutaneously, that is, to take a tissue sample using minimally invasive technology from an internal organ or a suspicious lesion. It is a sure way to assist in diagnosing diseases ranging from cancers, infections, and inflammatory diseases. Guided by ultrasound, CT scan, or fluoroscopy, a fine or core needle is maneuvered into the area, carefully obtaining tissue to be sent to the lab for analysis.

Percutaneous biopsy is, of course, contrasted to surgical biopsy, which is done several days after such procedures have been completed. Patients experience less pain, have fewer complications, and recover faster with PERC. Local anesthetic is used, which avoids the need for general anesthesia and, in fact, same-day discharge from outpatient surgical facilities. Furthermore, high accuracy in diagnosis enhances the precision of treatment plans.

At Gemelli, percutaneous biopsy is conducted by a team of experienced interventional radiologists with adequate support from modern imaging technology. The hospital facilities offer safe and effective procedures that can translate into reliable diagnostics for the safety of patients. This is an important addition to the early detection of disease and personalized treatment strategy that ultimately translates to benefit to the patient.
